Tune Ups
If your vehicle’s engine stalls a lot, or the engine is running rough when idling, or your engine stalls when you accelerate, it might be time for a tune up. Tune-up intervals vary from one vehicle to another. Older vehicles with non-electronic ignitions should be tuned-up every 10,000 to 12,000 miles, or once a year. Newer cars with electronic ignitions are built to go as long as 25,000 or even up to 100,000 miles without needing a major tune up.
The last thing you want to happen is to be on a busy interstate, try to pass someone, put your foot on the gas, and nothing happens. It could be dangerous, but TAG Automotive can correct it during a tune-up.
If your car stalls a lot, the spark plugs may be fouled, the gap between the spark plug electrodes may need adjusting or an electronic sensing device may need to be corrected.
A misfiring engine could be caused by worn out or fouled spark plugs. Bad spark plugs can also cause low fuel milage, hard starting and sluggish acceleration.
A dirty or clogged engine air filter can also reduce acceleration. If your vehicle’s engine makes knocking sounds when you accelerate or when climbing hills, it is a sign of your engine’s inefficiency and it’s time to have a professional mechanic look at it.
TAG Automotive’s ASE Certified mechanics can diagnose engine problems and provide a solution. Call us, or come by our shop today.
